Elizabeth Dillard, Owner and Chief Consultant
Elizabeth Dillard began her twenty-year career in business and communications in 1987 after graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Communications. Her first position was Assistant Director of Public Relations for the New Jersey Savings League, a statewide trade association representing more than 130 savings and loan institutions. After being promoted to Assistant Vice President and Director of Communications, Beth decided to leave the NJSL to further her education at New York University’s prestigious Leonard Stern School of Business. In 1992, she completed her Master’s Degree in Business Administration, specializing in International Business and Management.
In 1991, Beth began working for The Eagle Newspaper, a weekly publication in Upstate New York. At The Eagle, Beth was involved in reporting, editing, layout, sales, advertising design, distribution and business management. She became Managing Editor of The Eagle in 1999. Beth left her full-time position at The Eagle in 2006 to begin Battenkill Logistics & Consulting. The Eagle became her first client, continuing to utilize her skills in writing, editing and business management.
In addition to her position at The Eagle, Beth was the Director of the Cambridge Youth Commission from 1991 to 2005. In that capacity she planned and orchestrated recreational activities for the children of Cambridge, White Creek and Jackson. Beth was responsible for budgeting, grant writing, hiring and training staff and all publicity and public relations for the CYC. She successfully expanded the existing six-week summer program into a full-year program including a daily, after school program. Beth ended her association with the CYC in 2005 to pursue other goals.
While at The Eagle and living in Cambridge, New York, Beth became very involved in her community. She served as an elected member of the Cambridge Central School Board of Education from 1994-1996 and from 1999-2005. She was the Board president for three of those years. Beth was elected to the Cambridge Town Council and served on that governmental body from 2001 to 2005. She was also one of the early members of the Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce and began serving on its board in 1998. Beth is the current president of the Chamber of Commerce, a position she held from 1999-2001 and from 2003 to the present. Beth chairs the media and public relations committee for the Chamber and is the chairperson of the Chamber’s largest annual event, the Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival.
In 2006, Beth launched Battenkill Logistics & Consulting, a Washington County-based company designed to help businesses, organizations, governmental bodies and individuals become more successful, efficient and organized. Utilizing her years of experience in communications, her service on government and community organization boards, her knowledge of business management and her extensive network of professional contacts, Beth began the company to help others achieve their goals, while achieving one of her own – to start her own business.
